KriOvum Cell and Tissue Bank as a licenced medical service provider offering services of freezing ad storage stem cells from umbilical cord blood and cord tissue with its main cooperating partner, KRIO Intsitute Plc.


The KRIO Institute Private Company Limited by Shares is a member of one of the largest stem cell bank networks in Europe, the FamiCord Group, which jointly stores a total of 50,000 samples and offered successful assistance in 12 transplants thus far. As the first and largest stem cell banks in Hungary with almost fifteen years of experience in deep freezing and cooperated successfully in three umbilical cord blood stem cell transplants which used domestically stored samples.

KRIO Institute was one of the first entities to create the possibility of isolating and storing so-called mesenchymal stem cells derived from umbilical cord tissue.

KRIO Institute is a member of the European Association of Family Cord Blood Banks, EAFCBB of Cord Blood Europe and through its owners of FamiCord Group. Since 2005, an audited quality assurance system (ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004) has also been implemented. KRIO  Institute was the first one in Hungary and the fourth in Europe to be accredited by the international association based in America, which deals with blood transfusion and cell therapy – namely, the AABB American Association of Blood Banks). Thus, our procedures of processing, freezing and storing samples became internationally accepted and our deep-frozen samples usable in any therapeutic centre worldwide.
